NFC Title Game - Giants vs. Packers January 20, 2008!

I was there!  My Packer Buddies were there with me!  IT WAS COLD!!!  It was VERY COLD!  It was a difficult loss!  A great game!  But today as I was watching the NFL Network I saw a story behind the game that I forgot!  I saw it briefly, but was too upset with the Packers loss to really follow it closely!  Today I watched the entire video for the first time!

As fate would have it, Colonel Gadson was also part of my son's life!  My son, Major Jared Albright was stationed at Fort Belvoir, under a great man!

As we all get into our sports team & cheer them on, remember some of our true heroes!  Men like Colonel Gregory D. Gadson!  We all salute you & the military people who keep us free!

Linebacker Desmond Bishop Released

Rumor had it the Packers were shopping Desmond Bishop around - apparently no one was in the shopping mode and Desmond Bishop was released!

Desmond was injured all last season - hamstring injury.  Brad Jones became the starter and apparently the Pack is satisfied with his abilities!

And it almost always comes down to money$$$$$$$$$.  Here is the breakdown for last years starters and Bishop:

AJ Hawk - $5.2 million
Brad Jones $2.5 million
Desmond Bishop - $4.744 million

So, look like the Packers are going to move around some money!

Bishop was drafted in the 6th round of the 2007 draft.  Played in 69 games with 26 starts in 6 seasons.

So, the Packers roster is down to 89 & Desmond Bishop is looking for a job

Second, "Is has to get better!" - New running backs!

Eddie Lacy, Jonathan Franklin, & Angelo Pease!  Young legs!  Lacy, with power & speed!  Franklin, a break away threat!  Wouldn't it be nice to have a 60-70 yard run for a TD!  And Green, Starks, & Harris to push the rookies!  Like the depth!  Like the fresh legs!  Like the possibilities!

Third, Coach is excited! "Is has to get better!"

You can feel the vibes to "RUN" the ball!  How about a running back running for 100 yards in a game, let's say 8 of 16 games!  Play action passing!  Rogers, fakes to Lacy, fires to Finley for a TD!  Rogers fakes to Franklin, throws deep to Cobb for 6 points!!!  And less sacks!  Rogers MUST stay healthy!  The d-line on the opposing team cannot just aim for Rogers!!

100 Days to Packers First Game!

100 Days to go!  First game, Sunday, September 8th against the San Fransisco 49ers!! At the 49er's!  Is it too early to predict?  Nah!!!!  Here we go:

First quarter
Packers draw first blood!  The Pack mixes the run and pass with the rookies Lacy & Franklin sharing the duties at running back and Rogers hitting Jones, Nelson, Cobb & Finley as they move quickly down the field!  Finley scores on a play action pass from Rogers after a beautiful fake, Finley scores over the middle on a rocket by Rogers!
The Packer defense harasses Kapernick & Datone Jones records his first sack!  Heyward intercepts a pass and runs it in for six!  Score after first quarter, Packer 14 - 49ers 0!

Second Quarter
The Pack continues to hold down the 49ers, their only score comes from a field goal.  The Pack turns to the running game and Kuhn scores from the one, after an 8 minute drive!  Score at the end of the half, Packers 21 - 49ers 3!

Third Quarter
49ers drive to the 30, but the drive stalls when Williams knocks down pass thrown to Boldin.  49ers kick another field goal.  On the Packers first possession of the half, two quick first downs, first Lacy rumbles for twelve and then Nelson catches a 11 years slant.  On a first down from the 45, Rogers hits Cobb on a perfectly thrown out & up!  Packers go up 28 to 6!

Fourth Quarter
The fourth quarter is a punters duel, with both teams playing great defense.  The 49ers score a TD during the last 2 minutes against a Packer defense that played well all game!  Final score, Packers 28 - 49ers 13.  Packers rookies Lacy, Franklin, & Jones play well.  Nick Perry shows promise.  And, the Packer offense line switch looks good, allowing just one sack!

OK, I know I'm a little pumped, but it is June!  And only 100 days till kick off!!!!!
