Looks Like The Packers Have Two Nose Guards Signed!

As of March 30, 2015, the depth chart at nose guard is looking a lot better!  Leroy Guion & BJ Raji are close to signing in year deals!  Raji - 3.5 million for one year & Guion - 2.75 million for one year.
The final details will show us what this does to our Packer salary cap.

As of today, without Raji & Guion salaries - Packers are 6th in cap room at $21,887,985.

So, if my numbers are close - the Pack will have about $15,000,000 left.  And I say,
sign John Kuhn!!!!

What do I like about the deal?

1 - It is a one year deal!  Why is that good you say?  BJ Raji needs to prove himself & stay healthy!  Leto Guion cannot be caught with cash, Marajuna, & a gun!!!!!

2 - Their age is good - Raji at 28 and Guion at 27!

3 - And I REALLY think, if healthy & focused, this is a good 1-2 punch inside for run support!!!!

So, time will tell!  Both players have something too prove!  So, PROVE IT!

A Look At The Packers On March 28th, 2015

This week?  Signed -------  get ready for this ----------- Kyle Sebetic!!!!

Whoa!

Could be a great kid, but Packers are still the only NFL team NOT to sign a free agent from another team!  And they now sit at #6 as far as salary cap money left to spend this year!  - $21, 887, 895. That is good for this year!  Maybe the reason is not this year, but the next two years !

 Check out years 2016 and 2017, as far as cap space.

As an example, in 2016 the Packers are #1 in spending!!!!  See Below!

And in 2017..... the Pack sits at #3

The Pack has a lot of money already spent!  So, the Pack will not be able to sign a lot of big

A Look At The Packers on March 21st?

So, after two weeks of free agency the Packers have signed key players from their offense, lost key players on the defense, and signed a few special teams players of their own.  Overall, that means that they are a little weaker at this point.  If, nothing changes, where does that leave us before the draft?

Offense - the offense is healthy & the same personnel as last year.  That should be a good thing!  The offensive line should be one of the best going into 2015.  LT - Bakhtiari. LG - Sitton, C- Linsley, RG - Lang, & RT - Bulaga.  Good for the Pack!  Running Back - Lacy & Starks, a great 1-2 punch!  Lost Harris, but he never played last year!  At tight end, Quarless & Rogers.  They did an adequate job & Rogers should be even better, just need better blocking out of him!  Wide receivers, Nelson, Cobb & Adams are intact!  That means more great plays & more Packer records (WE HOPE).  The backups are young and exciting - Abbrederis,  Janis & White.  And of course, the BEST QB in the NFL - Aaron Rogers!

Defense - Take away you starting cornerback Williams & our top replacement House.  AJ Hawl leadership gone at inside linebacker.  And Guion & Raji still up in the air!  So, NOT GOOD!  The good news?  Our safety play may start to be one of the best in the NFL - Burnett & Clintin-Dix have another year together.  Peppers & Matthews have another year together at outside linebacker.  The D-line, except for Nose Tackle.  So, in my humble opinion, just like recent years, the defense has some holes!

Special Teams - an above average kicker & below average punter.  And the players will all be different that run on the special teams.  A new special teams coach.  So, unless changes are made(BYE BYE BOSTICK & BRAD JONES) the special teams will be very unpredictable!

Good News?  McCarthy is watching over all teams - offense, defense, & special teams.  Bad News - we do not know if this is good or bad news?

The draft will be again key!  Last year - Adams, Linsley, Clinton-Dix, & Richard Rogers made HUGE contributions!  We need more of the same this year!

After One Week of Free Agency, The NFL Rankings

The NFL website has it's rankings after one week of free agency!

They have the Pack at #3! Love what they say:

While other teams are out there making their big splashes in the free-agency pool, there sitsPackers general manager Ted Thompson, reclining in his lawn chair, wearing Oakleys with the string wrapped around his neck, reading the 98th book James Patterson's written since 2004. Personally, I like that the Green Bay general manager tends to retain his own rather than going after tons of big-name players. Sure, there have been some smaller signings here and there by the Packers over the years, but Thompson's draft well-retain well strategy never gets old. By the way, with the money Bryan Bulaga is making now, he can afford those expensive Settlers of Catanexpansion packs. They're pricey and you have to own the main game to play them. That's so unfair.

A Football Time Out - More Land Being Purchased!

Let's take a time out from the football field and look around the football field!  The Packer Management is still buying up land around Lambeau Field!  Here is the latest!

The Packer Free Agent Log Jam Begins to Open Up!!

The first big log in the dam has been taken out!  And the free agent money begins to flow!  My initial guess of 9-10 million a year looks pretty close!  Maybe a little more then Jordy money, but not by much!

With Randall Cobb in tow, that means 4 years or so, with Rogers chucking the ball around to Nlson & Cobb!  That is great news!  And I still have HIGH hopes for the younger receivers!  And I think the Packers draft now should stay away from drafting another WR!

TJ Lang: "Randall Cobb had 6-7 offers today, I'm told.  He turned down considerably more money elsewhere to sign with the Packers. My dude!"

David Bakhtiari: "We want 4 more years!!!!!

Bulaga should be next - my guess 6-7 million.  Then, hopefully others follow!

And if they sign Bulaga, that leaves somewhere around 17 million to spend.  My guess is still:

And the count down continues toward March 10th!  No big signings from the Packer from office!  If you are counting, that is 6 more days to go!  What does this all mean?

1 - The Packers have a list, and they will begin signing free agents as soon as they start with their first signing?  And, I am presuming that name is Randall Cobb?  The latest stories I have read have the Packers at 8-9 million & the Cobb Group around 12 million!  So, is that holding up the works?

Or,
2 - Ted Thompson is on vacation in the Caribbean.

Or,
3 - The Packers have all their email on Hillary Clinton's Server at her house.

Or,
4 - The Packers will send all the cap money $33,000,000 back to their stock holders!

What ever the answer, No News, is NO NEWS!!!

March 3rd and Things Are Heating Up In The NFL!

This time is VERY interesting!  Teams are making decisions!  Salary cap has been announced.  Franchise Tags are being used.  Trades are being made.  And March 10th is approaching!  Some interesting points!

Salary Cap announced!  $143.28 million dollars.

Franchise Tags - one with the largest impact on Packers - Dez Bryant - Cowboys & Demaryius Thomas - Broncos!  That moves Cobb up the list of top wide receivers!

Trades - Sean McCoy (Eagles) to Bills for Linebacker Kiko Alonso.  WOW!  The Eagles coach & McCoy seem to be on different pages!

Teams are still releasing plays to clear cap space!

So, the next 7 days, more of the same to come - trades, players released, and players signed before March 10!!  And after that, new uniforms for players and maybe Cobb will be one!  Right now, my odds are 70% gone & 30% staying!  Ted Thompson will not break the bank!  My number for Cobb is still around 8-9 million a year!

It's March, Free Agents Talk & Teams Clearing Cap Space!

This time of the year many teams are cleaning house, SPRING CLEANING!  The date that looms is March 10, 2015!  Free Agent signing begins!  So, what are NFL teams doing?

First, Clear Cap Space!  Many veterans around the league are now looking for new homes!  The Packers are no different, the two large salaries that are now gone - AJ Hawk & Brad Jones.  AJ Hawk will probably stay retired.  Brad Jones, already signed a two year deal with the Eagles!

Brandon Bostick is now with the Vikings.  Kevin Dorsey has a tryout with the Patriots.  So, the Packers plan of draft & develop must be working, because other teams like Packer players!!!

Second, Packer cap space is growing.  Now, the front office is talking to some key players, in this case Cobb and Bulaga!  The rumors are flying with Randall Cobb, $12,000,000?  No way the Pack pays that!  My guess, around $9,000,000.  If not, bye, bye, Cobb.

Bulaga, the rumors are quiet.  Here we have a back up plan - Tretter & Barclay.

So, top ten go from 3.2 million to 7 million.  I would give Bulaga 4-6 million.  If not, bye, bye!

Next on my list is cornerback, Tramon Williams & Devon House.

A big range 9.6 million to 25 million, now second was 14 million!!  Big gap.  Again, for House & Williams, we have different thinking, Williams the older athlete & House the younger.  Last year salaries, Williams was the 4th highest paid at 9.5 million!  No way, at age 31, I would pay that!  I would offer 3 yrs at 6-7 million.  For House, a raise, maybe 3 yrs at 6-7 million.

The top four on my list - Cobb, Bulaga, Williams, & House!  All the other players be later.

Of course, stupid decisions, like Guion & now Bush, will make their decisions easier.  As Forest Gump says, "Stupid is, as Stupid does!"  So, Stupid = Less $$$$$$

NFL Quarterbacks - The Packer Fans Are Spoiled!

OK, Packer Fans!  This is that time to stop complaining and look at what is good in your football life!  My first "Good Thing" - Quarterback - Aaron Rogers!

First, a look at NFL starting Quarterbacks!

Wow!  Packer Fans!  Did you look at the list!!!!  Out if 32 teams?  WE HAVE THE BEST!!!!

Now look at the winning & losing Super Bowl QB's for the passed 14 years!

Wow!  We are still fortunate!  Of ALL the names on that list, I will take Aaron Rogers!!!!

So, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE OUR QB IS SURROUNDED BY QUALITY PLAYERS!!
