What To Look For In 2019 Packer Pre-Season

OK, Packer Fans!  Let's jump right into what the Pre-Season will tell us.

Position Battles?

Offensive Line:
Known, LT - David Bakhtiari is am all-pro caliber player.  C - Corey Linsley a solid center.  The rest of the line, up for grabs - G - Lane Taylor, newcomer G - Billy Turner, RT - Brian Bulaga - these players have the inside track, but expect a push from Cole Madison, Jason Spriggs, Justin McCray, & Elgton Jenkins.  The talent on the offensive line MUST be improved!

Wide Receivers: Davante Adams, one of leagues best!  The loss of Jordy Nelson a few years ago & Randall Cobb last year is a dramatic change!  This needed to happen, but do we have players to do it?  As of now, NO!  After 3-4 weeks. MAYBE!  Here they are Geronimo Allison started last year & looked good, then injury.  Rookies Valdes-Scantling, St. Brown, Moore showed some ability.  Walk-on Kumerow looked good.  But, will two emerge, yes - are they good enough - Big Fat Maybe!

Running Backs - Aaron Jones & Jamaal Williams are good enough to make teams respect the run.  Will the NEW offense use the running back better?  I HOPE SO!  Not much depth!

Tight Ends: Would be great to have a stud.  What do we have?  An old stud - Jimmy Graham.  A possible new stud Jace Sternberger.  And, a couple for depth, headed by Robert Tonyan.

QB - Aaron Rodgers.  What can we say, one of the BEST.  But, older, getting injured more & NO depth behind him!

D-line - Could be very good.  Kenny Clark, ready for an all-pro year!  Mike Daniels, the leader, but getting older.  Dean Lowry, Tyler Lancaster, Kingsley Keke, Montravious Adams and others will make this line better & NEW EDGE RUSHERS!

Edge Rushers - Kyler Fackrell, Preston Smith, Za'Darius, Reggie Gilbert.  Should be better, but not great!  Still need that one ALL-PRO type!

Inside Linebackers - like fullback on offense a dying position.  More safeties are coming down in he box, because of the the 4-5 receiver sets!  Blake Martinez is our solid man, but not a BIG playmaker. Oren Burks should be better, beyond that, not much depth (sound familiar)

Defensive Backs - should eventually be our strength!  Jaire Alexander should be possible All-Pro, Kevin King must stay healthy! Ex-Bear, Adrain Amos is a BIG upgrade at safety & draft choice Darnell Savage could be the real deal.  Overall, this could be our best pass defense since Charles Woodson left the Packers!

A lot of ifs!  This is what pre-season is all about!

My Vacation is Over, Let the Packer Blog of 2019 Begin!

Well Packer Fans, it has been over 2 months!  I needed a break!  You needed a break!  What are your questions going into the 2019 season?  Here are a list from the PackerBacker:

1 - Will the Packers make the the Playoffs?

2 - Is the Packer Leadership more worried about all the new building around Lambeau Field, or building a championship football team?

3 - New head coach?  (Never a NFL head coach?)

4 - Rodgers & LaFleur, what will this new relationship look like?

5 - Defense, better in 2019?

6 - Will 2 receivers step up to help Adams?

7 - Will the Packer defense pressure the opposition QB?

8 - Will the Packers have a 1000 yard rusher?

9 - Will this be Crosby's last year as our kicker?

10 - The most important question, will the Packer Buddies have another exciting adventure to Green Bay and a Packers Game???

Last question first!!  Question #10 - YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
First game will be the Eagles, our 3rd game of the year.

Fly in from Baltimore to Milwaukee.
Stay at the Lighthouse Inn in Two Rivers, WI
Head into Green Bay & take a Segway Tour of the city!
Dinner at one of our favorite Green Bay restaurants.
Go to the game on Thursday Night & watch the Packers BEAT the Eagles!
Have breakfast at the Hobo Restaurant in Belgium, WI
Fly back from Milwaukee to Baltimore

#9 - YES, Crosby will finish his Packer Hall of Fame career with 2-3 game winners!

#8 - YES, Aaron Jones.

#7 - YES, Newcomers, P & Z Smith help make opposing QB's lives miserable!

#6 - YES, Allison, Valdes-Scantling & Kumerow step up!

#5 - YES, defense, with more pressure & young DB's leading the way!

#4 - YES, Rodger & LeFleur - "A New Bro-mance!"

#3 - YES, a new young head coach is JUST what we needed!

#2 - YES, our Packer leadership is crazy with building stuff! But, we win anyway!

#1 - YES, Packers are back in the playoffs!

All this is positive, the last two years have been frustrating!  The bright side, NO MORE
McCarthy & Ted Thompson painful press conferences!  NO MORE Rodgers injuries - I HOPE!

Practice starts soon!  ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL????
