Building A Champion - Tight Ends

If I were to pick one area of frustration the last 10 years, the Packer Tight Ends may be my first choice!  How about a look back!

Go Back to Super Bowl Season in 2010 - Jermichael Finley, OH, do you remember, he did not play, he finished the season on the Injured Reserve!  The Packers Super Bowl winning roster tight Ends:

Tom Crabtree
Donald Lee
Andrew Quarless

These three players were NOT All Pros, but served the purpose!  So, you can win a Super Bowl without a stud tight end.

Season 2013 - Andrew Quarless, Jake Stoneburner, Ryan Taylor
Season 2014 - Brandon Bostick, Justin Perillo, Andrew Quarless, Richard Rodgers
Season 2015 - Kennard Backman, Justin Perillo,  Richard Rodgers
Season 2016 - Jared Cook, Richard Rodgers
Season 2017 - Emanuel Byrd, Lance Kendricks, Richard Rodgers
Season 2018 - Jimmy Graham, Lance Kendricks, Mercedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan
Season 2019 - Jimmy Graham, Mercedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan, Jace Sternberger

Overall, last 10 years, a lost decade!  We had some moments.  Finley was promising, but injuries and a head case.  Jared Cook was a great pick up, BUT, we let him go - OPPS!  Richard Rodgers had a moment (Hail Mary from Aaron), but fumbled onside kick to lose a NFC Championship to Seattle!

So, our 2020 team so far?
Mercedes Lewis, Evan Baylis, James Looney, Jace Sternberger, Robert Tonyan

Lewis is the leader and we signed him for one more season.  Sternberger, injured most of the rookie season, is our biggest hope!  He could be an answer, but so far, we have no clue!  Tonyan, special teams at best.  Baylis & Looney, no.

So, we NEED to draft another.  Look at the two Super Bowl Teams - 49ers - Kittle, Chiefs - Kelce.
They were not household names draft day, but they are playmakers!  They both play with an edge!  They both are athletic!  They both can get down the field!  Not fancy, but GOOD!

The 2020 Packer team needs a tight end!!
