Packers Roster Breakdown - Offensive Line 2021

 Who are the players??

First, the loss - Corey Linsley, our All-Pro Center is gone.  Salary Cap Hit! Hey Aaron & Davante, you want big bucks?  Great, BUT, you will lose players!)

Next, it looks like Corey Linsley, may be replaced by another Ohio State product from this years draft, Josh Meyers!  Packer fans, remember, Linsley was a rookie starter at center & he was from Ohio State!  Watching the interviews, this kid has a maturity & says all the right things!  He is large! 6'5" & 310 pounds!  Now, how will he do in pads?

Will are all-pro, Davis Bakhtiari, be ready to start the season?  Remember, we lost David at the end of last year!  That could have been a Super Bowl?  He is the LEADER of this line!  He is loved by Aaron Rodgers!  He is fun!  And, he has GREAT HAIR!

Our young gun! Elgton Jenkins?  Boy, at 25 years of age, my gut says he could be one of the BEST offensive lineman in Packer History!  He can play ANY of the 5 offensive line positions.  He has become an All Pro in just 3 years!  He should start anywhere!

Billy Turner.  Another, great pick up by our GM! (Aaron, our young GM id really not that bad!)  Again, he can play guard or tackle!  Again, ge has great hair!

Guard, Lucas Patrick.  Every line needs a play like Lucas that was not high profile, but hard worker, blue collar, success story!  Lucas is the man!

New VET on the block!  Dennis Kelly!  At age 31, starting most of those years!  And, a personality as I mentioned before!  And, yessssss, great hair!!!

Dennis has the experience to step in at any time!  And, has the personality to make practices FUN!

So,

Left Tackle - David Bakhtiari
Left Guard - Elgton Jenkins
Center - Josh Myers
Right Guard - Lucas Patrick
Right Tackle - Billy Turner or Dennis Kelly

Not bad!  But, there is more!  People will be pushing hard to make this team!!  That is a good thing!

Jake Hanson - 6'4" - 296 lbs - Center - (last year draft choice, should push Myers!)
Yosh Nijman - 6'7" - 314 lbs - Tackle - (made team last year, a definite roster possibility)
Jon Runyan - 6'4" - 307 lbs - Guard - (got experience last year at guard & his pedigree is great!)
Simon Stepaniak - 6'4" - 316 lbs - Guard
Joe Dietzen - 6'5" - 312 lbs - Guard/Tackle
Ben Braden - 6'6" - 329 lbs - Guard
Zach Johnson - 6'6" - 301 lbs - Guard/Tackle
Jacob Capra - 6'5" - 300 lbs - Guard/Tackle
Cole Van Lanen - 6'4" - 305 lbs - Guard/Tackle
Royce Newman - 6'5" - 310 lbs - Guard/Tackle
Coy Cronk - 6'4" - 318 lbs - Guard/Tackle

It will be a battle to make the 53 man roster!  A great battle, which is GREAT for the team!

My feelings????

We could have one of the BEST O-lines in the NFL!!!!

Packers Roster 2021 - The 90 Man Roster!

Here we go.  Back to work!  Hours of research, watching videos of player interviews, and we even have pre-season games this year!!!  We go from 90 to 53!!!

Dates:

August 17 - Cut to 85 players

August 24 - Cut to 80 players

August 31 - Cut to 53 players

Packer Pre-Season Games:

August 14 - Texans - Home

August 21 - Jets - Home

August 28 - Bills - Away

OK, the Packers 90 Man Roster!

I have already tried to look at potential players, some are obvious!  I have highlighted in green, 33 players I think have a good shot at staying on the 53 man roster.  This may change after pre-season games, injuries, etc.  Usually, all draft choices make it!  Usually, the final 10-12 need to play special teams!  Usually, we NEVER ask Aaron, but this year they may consult him - Ha Ha!

So, let the games begin!  Already in some of the interviews I have favorites!  New guy, a veteran tackle with ten years of experience, is VERY interesting - Dennis Kelly!  He wore Bakhtiari's #69 to the first practice for fun!  He even has great HAIR like David!

Packers Are Back, Aaron is Back, and, This Blog is Back!

So, he we go!  This old Packer Fan will do his BEST to get ready for the 2021 Packer Season!!!  First, we need to tackle the "AARON THING!"

If you did not see or hear the Aaron Rodgers Press Conference Click on this link!

Now, first, Aaron was VERY honest.  And, I think his heart is in the right place.  Problem is, the age old question, who & how are decisions made in professional sports, specifically the NFL?  First, a little background.

1 - Most teams are owned by an owner, or group of owners.  In Dallas, Jerry Jones basically is THE MAN!  The good old Bears were run for years by the Halas Family, now McCaskeys.  Rooneys, the Steelers.  Of the 32 teams, the Packers are run by the stockholders!  (I GET ONE VOTE - there are over 5 million shares!)  We have a "Executive Board" - they have a president - Mark Murphy.  He has under him, the General Manager, the Financial Manager(CAP), and the Head Coach.

Aaron would like these people to talk to him, run ideas by him, listen to him.  MOST teams would not do this!  Aaron has said, with over 17 years of experience & his success & his leadership & serving as guest host on Jeopardy, he should be at least given a chance to suggest ideas??

2 - He was prepared, he had a long list of EX players, Jordy, Cobb, Woodson, Matthews, Hyde, Kuuuuuuuuuhn.........  The way they were treated, was NOT fair!  Aaron wasn't consulted.  Some were not offered contracts, etc.  One of the reporters had a great point, MOST of these players did not have great years when the left Green Bay.

3 - Basically, Aaron just wants to be listened to!  Before the let a player go, trim the roster, etc, check with him & get his opinion.  With free agents around the league, Aaron knows some of them, check with Aaron.

The press conference was good.  Aaron gave his honest opinion.  And, the Packers did go out and sign Randall Cobb, and gave up a 6th round draft choice for him!  They seem to be trying to offer an olive branch.  Will this satisfy Aaron??

Time will tell!  But, you know the DRAMA will continue!!!

What happens if Cobb does not make the 53 man roster???

Hang on Packer Fans!  OK, there are 89 other players trying to make this team!  Let us begin to analyze & dissect the roster!!!

This Packer Fan, This Football Fan, This NFL Fan, is Suffering........

At my age, a senior citizen, the world is NOT the same.  Social Media, Politics, Business, Media, and Sports are in a strange place.  Everything is political!  Baseball moves an All Star Game, What is OUR National Anthem?  Players, like our own Aaron Rodgers, believe they need to be consulted for moves made by the team?  This may be the last year of my Packer Blog.  This may be the last year that I travel to Green Bay.

Still waiting for our beloved QB to return.  Stay tuned!
