The Packer Roster Grows to 89 Players

The Packer roster has grown in the past few weeks.  Today the added another safety - David Fulton, from Chowan University.  Another small school pick-up!  Check at the Packer Roster.  Here is the latest break down.

Quarterbacks - 4
Fullbacks - 2
Running Backs - 6
Wide Receiver - 11
Tight Ends - 7
Tackles - 7
Guards - 5
Centers - 3

That is 45 offensive players.  This competition looks interesting in two areas, wide receivers & running backs!  My early prediction is the younger players make the team!

Safety - 6
Corner - 9
Outside Linebacker - 7
Inside Linebacker - 7
Defensive End - 7
Defensive Tackles - 4

That is 40 players.  Here I see a BIG need!  Need for Perry to become a force at linebacker to assist Matthews.  Datone Jones needs to be a difference maker on the line of scrimmage!  Hayward starts at the corner opposite Williams and, a safety must become a leader!!!

The special teams - 1 punter, 1 long snapper, and 2 kickers!  Of course, the kicker battle is critical!!  We NEED a dependable kicker!  And it always bugs me that we waste a spot on the long snapper!  It is a shame, with all these incredibly talented athletes that someone cannot snap a football!!

On the first day of school the teacher explained to her class that she’s a Chicago Bears fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they’re Bears fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise, “Janie, why didn’t you raise your hand?”

A Chicago Bears football fan was almost killed in a tragic horse accident. He fell from the horse and was nearly trampled to death.

Thank God the manager of the K-Mart came out and unplugged it.

A Different Look at The Packer Draft Choices

Found this website on the Packer Draft Choices.

The music may be hard to take for you old timers(warning bad language on some!), but the video is interesting!

Here are a few comments:

Datone Jones - I love the athleticism!  In the videos, Datone demonstrates a few of the characteristics that the Packers are missing!

First, the read option quarterbacks!  If you watch the video, UCLA played several teams that ran the quarterback option (lookout 49ers!)  I think what I saw is is good sign!!!!

Second, Datone tackles!  He wraps the ball carrier!  He has good lateral pursuit! I delivers a blow!!!

Take a look at some of the other draft choices & the videos provided!  Interesting!

Packer Current Roster, Packer Moves, and Today's Feelings

As Rookie Camp settles down and coach's remarks are made, what are the fans feeling?  Here are my feelings.

Rookie Camp - listening to the first interviews - GOOD FEELINGS!  To hear the the actual interviews go the the Packer Website.

What made me feel good?
1 - Several rookies mentioned Packer History
2 - Well spoken rookies
3 - Will do what they need to do to help the TEAM

Coaches Remarks
1 - Will move Bulaga & Sitton to the left side!  Protect Rogers! Center - Dietrich-Smith.  And it looks like Lang & Newhouse will need to battle for the right guard & tackle spots!

Roster taking shape!
1 - Like what I see for competition!
Datone Jones an "athletic" defensive linemen!  Plus - a healthy Mike Neal, a second-life for Johnny Jolly, and more new blood - Gilbert Pena & Josh Boyd!
Linebackers - A healthy Desmond Bishop!  A healthy Nick Perry!  And new people - Palmer, Mulumba, Barington, Wilson.
I still question our defensive backs!  NEED A LEADER!

Offense?
Love the upside for draft picks Dorsey & Johnson!  We NEED a new Donal Driver!!!
Running backs!  An answer to a LONG prayer!  Lacy, Franklin & a sleeper Pease!  Would love to see a season with a 60 yard TD run, a 35 yard TD run, and a 50 yard TD run! (I'm sure Rogers would love that also!)

Early Packer Depth Chart!

One of my Packer Buddies(Thanks Terry) found a good article discussing an early look at a possible depth chart for the Packers!

Green Bay Packers - Assessing the Packer Depth Chart

This article had some very good points, here is my analysis:

WR's - Pack still has 3 of the best combinations in the league - Nelson, Cobb & Jones!  It is always nice to have more play makers - maybe out of the young ones from last years roster & the new draftees we can find one!  Also, help with the return game is critical!  I hope we get one of the young ones to become a DEEP threat!  Love those 60-70 yard TD's!!!

TE's - Wow!  Still do not like Finley.  I was hoping for a top one in the draft no luck!  My underdog is Bostick!  But, maybe, just maybe, Finley will shine!  This is his last year in his contract!

Tackles - Another key move for 2013!  Need to protect Rogers!  Injuries is the key!!  The last few years, the injury bug has hit hard.  The article hints that Bulaga, moves to left tackle & the rest fight it out on the right side!  My hope is Sherrod bounces back from a big surgery!!

Guards - feel good about Sitton & Lang!  Just need depth!

Center - Dietrich-Smith won the positions in the middle of the year & maybe this year he can get even better!  The biggest thing is Rogers seems to trust him!

QB's - Rogers!  And I guess McCarthy trusts his young backups!  STAY HEALTHY AARON!!!

RB's - This is to me the most exciting part of the new offensive machine!  We drafted two good ones!  Lacy, seems to be a punishing inside runner & Franklin should make the defense stay honest!  I see Harris as the change of pace guy.  The runners from last years roster - GOOD LUCK, one may stick?

And defense, DE's - We need a pass rusher!  Maybe we have him - Jones! The other guys, adequate at best!

NT's - Need at least two "wide bodies", Raji is above average & so is Picket, but he is 34 years of age! I DO NOT want to see more than one BEER BELLY on the field at a time!!!!

OLB - Mathews new contract & his engine is already cooking!  One of my highlights of going to Packer Game with my Packer Buddies is watching Matthews warm up!  He is like a sprinter before a track meet!!  The other side, here we go again, Perry stay healthy!!!

ILB's - Another one of my concerns!!  AJ Hawk is average at best & Desmond Bishop must stay healthy & see if he can be a difference maker inside!  There is that word again STAY HEALTHY!

CB's - Williams must get back to form!  Should be one of the top corners in league!  Hayward had a great rookie year - should get even better & Shield should be OK.

S - Burnett must keep getting better & start to make some big plays!  With Woodson gone can Jennings, McMillan, & others fighting it out!  NEED TO TACKLE BETTER!!!!

Excited for the 2013 season!  GO PACK GO!!!
