Packers released a cornerback this week, Bernard Blake. That makes 88 players on the present roster, and NFL teams are allowed 90 for summer camp. My guess, they will be looking for a tight end and maybe another player to begin camp next week. So, one last look at the roster. Here are the numbers:
Quarterback - 4
Fullback - 2
Running Back - 5
Wide Receiver - 12
Tight End - 6
Offensive Line - 15
Defensive Line - 10
Outside Linebackers - 8
Inside Linebackers - 8
Cornerbacks - 6
Safety - 8
Punter - 2
Kicker - 1
Long Snapper - 1
Remember the magic numbers - Roster 53 & Practice Squad 10. We know we will have at least 3 missing game #1 - Quarrels, Guion, & D. Jones.
My guess for players that are already safe?
Offense - Rogers, A., Lacy, Starks, Rogers B., R, Bakhtiari, Bulaga, Sitton, Lang, Lindsley, Nelson, Cobb, Adams, Quarless, Tolzien, Tretter - that is 15 players
Defense - Peppers, Matthews, Barrington, Daniels, Raji, Guion, Jones, D., Shields, Hayward, Hyde, Clinton-Dix, Burnett, Perry, Neal - 14
Usually the Pack keeps its top draft choices - Randall, Rollins, Montgomery, Ryan, Hundley - that is the top 5
Special team - Goode, Crosby - 2 players
So, right now we are at 36 players.
Here is my next list of possible players - Kuhn, Ripkowski, Ringo, Backman, Richardson, Banjo, Goodson, Hubbard, Bradford, Janis, Abbrederis, that is 11 players, we are at 47.
My surprises? Dantzler, Rotterham, Crocket, Mandell, Pennell, Ringo. That is 53!
So, let the competition begin!!
